Caucus Correction: Notice of caucus re-issued  with a correction regarding caucus  to fill vacant seat on Worthington Town Council

A Republican party caucus will be conducted later this month in Worthington to fill a seat on the Worthington Town Council formerly held by John “Tom” Shelton who recently resigned. The appointment will be to serve for the remainder of Shelton’s term. Any Republican who lives in Ward 3 and is interested in the position needs to file the declaration of candidacy paperwork in the Clerk’s Office on the second floor of the Greene County Courthouse at least 72 hours before the caucus on Sunday, February 27. The official notice as been re-issued to include a correction. Please disregard earlier notice.

Exactly one year ago, a story was posted on GreeneStreets about a warrant issued for a driver accused of OVWI with a BAC of .198 and reckless driving on his way to Bloomfield on the hill road from Worthington where he’d been drinking. Deputies tried to stop him but he fled and in the pursuit, crashed into a patrol vehicle before crashing his own vehicle, sustaining serious injuries. The driver has been in jail in another county but yesterday was booked into the Greene County Jail to face multiple charges here.

Felony charges filed against Lyons man, a former school employee, for child exploitation and possession of child porn

An investigation into child exploitation and possession of child porn by a school employee moved right along after personnel from a social media app submitted info regarding suspicious activity to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children who in turn shared the info with a detective from Bloomington who serves on the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, resulting in the arrest of a Lyons man last Wednesday. Following the arrest, the school confirmed the suspect was no longer employed at the school. Earlier today, the Greene County Prosecutor filed criminal felony charges against the suspect in Greene Circuit Court.

Work starts Friday on signal modernization and curb ramps on SR 54 in Linton

GREENE COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces lane restrictions for State Road 54 in Linton for multiple repairs. Beginning on or around Friday, Feb. 11, contractors will begin working in the area between S.R. 59 and Camelot Drive. Lane restrictions will be intermittent as they work to modernize the traffic signal at S.R. 54 and NE 12th Street. Following this operation, crews will build curb ramps in the work area. The final phase of this project is to mill and repave SR 54 from SR 59 to Camelot Drive.
