Louis Anthony “Tony” DeVault
/Louis Anthony “Tony” DeVault, age 79, of Terre Haute, Indiana, formerly of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on October 8, 2026. Tony was born in Washington, Indiana, on February 7, 1947, the only son of Louis E. DeVault and Norma E. (Clifton) DeVault.
Tony was a 1965 graduate of St. John’s Catholic High School in Loogootee, Indiana, and a 1969 graduate of Indiana State University. He worked in the banking industry as a loan officer for many years, retiring in 2016.
He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Terre Haute. When living in Linton, he was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Linton Rotary, and the Linton Civitan Club.
Tony enjoyed golfing and could be found on the golf course well into his later years. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids’ activities and sports, especially basketball. He followed the Linton Miners, Terre Haute North Patriots, and ISU Sycamores.
Tony is survived by two daughters, Julie (Matt) McNichols and Lora DeVault, both of Terre Haute, and five grandchildren, Emilee Hammond, Blake Hammond, Gabe McNichols, Maya McNichols, and Audrey DeVault. He is also survived by his special friend, Bev Fish, and his brothers- and sisters-in-law Dale and Jenell Hoffman of Shoals, Tim and Donna Summers of Franklin, Cathy and Doug Tarvin of Jasper, and their extended families.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Sharon (Hoffman) DeVault, and his parents.
Special gratitude is extended to Tracy Hoopingarner and her home healthcare team and also the team at SouthernCare Hospice.
A graveside service will be held at Goodwill Cemetery in Loogootee on Tuesday, October 13th, 2026, starting at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited to gather at Stoll’s Lakeview Restaurant immediately following the service.
