Elsie I. Reagan
/Elsie I. Reagan, 92, of Kendallville, formerly of the Plummer area, passed away peacefully at 11:55 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Orchard Pointe Health Campus in Kendallville. Her life was shaped by her love for family, her dedication to nursing, and the friendships she made along the way.
Born in Worthington on April 17, 1934, Elsie was the daughter of Ray and Mabel (Wells) Miller. She graduated from Worthington-Jefferson High School and continued her education at Indiana State University, where she earned her registered nursing degree. She later returned to her studies, earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
Nursing was an important part of Elsie’s life. While her husband, Ronald, served in the U.S. Navy, she worked as an obstetrical nurse in hospitals across the country, caring for mothers and welcoming new babies into the world. She later devoted 33 years to Greene County General Hospital, serving as both an obstetrical nurse and house supervisor.
Elsie and Ronald shared 59 years of marriage. Among the things they enjoyed together were their travels to Eastern Star chapters throughout Indiana, where each visit offered an opportunity to renew friendships and make new ones. Elsie was a member of Newberry Chapter #198, Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Past Worthy Matron and holding several star-point offices over the years. She was also a member of Worthington Christian Church and the Greene County Homemakers Club.
Away from her work and community activities, Elsie enjoyed a good book, a word-search puzzle, time in the kitchen, and a shopping trip. She loved traveling, but time with her family held a special place in her life. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were part of the family she and Ronald built together and remain an enduring part of her story.
Elsie is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Debra (Richard) Robertson of Kendallville; her son, David Reagan of Auburn; her grandchildren, Meleah (Matt) Shull, Ryan (Ashley) Robertson, and Hunter Reagan; and her great-grandchildren, Ryley Robertson, Reagan Robertson, Reba Robertson, Ruby Robertson, Dean Shull, and Henry Shull. She is also survived by her sister, Sue Hays of Solsberry, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Ronald Reagan; and sister, Kay (Miller) Hall.
Elsie’s life touched generations - from the mothers and babies she cared for as a nurse to the family who knew and loved her. She will be remembered with love for a life devoted to caring, connection, and family.
Visitation will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington, of Walton Funeral Service, on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with an Eastern Star service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will resume at the Worthington Christian Church on Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church at 11:00 AM, with Mark Hall officiating.
Elsie will be laid to rest next to her husband at Prairie Chapel Cemetery.
