Jack Daniel Long
/Jack Daniel Long, known to just about everyone as JD or "jack o lantern," passed away on October 17, 2026, at the age of 42. A Worthington, Indiana resident, Jack lived a life full of laughter, music, and good company.
Born on February 2, 1984, in Linton, Indiana, Jack was a goofy, bubbly guy who never met a stranger and always had a story ready to tell. If there was a room to light up, he found a way to do it. He proudly played football for the Linton Miners, suiting up alongside friends he never forgot.
Jack went on to serve in the United States Navy, where he took part in humanitarian relief efforts and carried himself with the kind of good humor that made tough days a little easier for those around him. One of the proudest moments of his life was becoming a father to his son, Jaxson.
When he wasn't working, Jack could be found at a concert, cranking up his favorite music, or simply hanging out with the family and friends he loved so much.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Lee Long Jr. Jack leaves behind his mother, Tonia Faye Long; his brothers James Dean Rowe Long, Kenneth Franklin Long, and Zachary Justin Barr; his sisters Lisa Marie Hayden and Crystal Starr Bowersock; and his brothers-in-law Bobby Don Bowersock and Timothy Gene Hayden.
Friends and family are invited to gather at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield on Thursday, October 22, 2026, with visitation from 1pm to 4pm and the funeral to follow at 4pm.
You are highly loved and will be highly missed. Fair winds and following seas, JD. Hit the deck running.
