LPD reminds parade-goers of street closures on Monday, July 4

Indiana’s largest Independance Day parade is happening in Linton on July 4 and to facilitate the parade route and the thousands of parade-goers, streets within the city will be closed before the parade start time of 10 a.m.

“Between 8:30 and 9, streets will be closed down to clear for the parade to start at 10,” said Linton Police Department Chief Paul Clark.

With the Fourth of July around the corner, the sky will soon be lit up with fireworks as many communities and individuals will gather for fireworks displays. It’s important to follow firework guidelines while celebrating.

Greene County follows the State of Indiana statute which allows fireworks to be set off on July 4 between the hours of 9 a.m. and midnight. On all other days, fireworks are permitted to be set off between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m.

A Greene County sheriff's deputy reported that when he talked to a man accused of ransacking another man's car on Wednesday, the suspect was making odd statements – he just wasn't making any sense. After being medically cleared by EMS personnel, the suspect was transported to the Greene County Jail.
