Burglary, theft and meth - homeless man arrested in Bloomfield
/A call regarding someone illegally residing in a Mill Street dwelling in Bloomfield resulted in an arrest on charges of burglary, possession of methamphetamine, theft, and possession of paraphernalia.

When Bloomfield Police Department Lieutenant Marvin Holt responded to a call to a multi-level brick dwelling set up as apartments with a basement, all doors, including four outside doors had been broken into.
Holt had been advised that Jesse Perry, 21 of Bloomfield, was living inside the basement without permission from the owner. When Holt began to enter the basement, Perry crossed the threshold, becoming visible to Holt, ordered Perry to leave the basement and come upstairs. Perry obeyed Holt’s commands. Perry told Lt. Holt he was staying in the building because he was homeless but admitted he was doing so without permission from the owners.
Perry told Holt the only items he had in the dwelling was a camouflage backpack, a black military-type duffle bag, and sheets from the bed. Holt asked Perry to follow him into the basement to show him the items and he did so.
Upon entering, Holt identified an uncapped syringe near the bottom of the door. Several doses of Narcan were located on a makeshift table. While looking near the bed, Holt found multiple syringes and other items used to ingest methamphetamine and illegal narcotics, Those items included: cotton swabs, little tins used to transfer illegal substances into syringes, blue elastic straps used to cut off circulation to find a vein to ingest said drug via syringe, uncapped syringes with clear fluid inside, and a lighter. Also located within the paraphernalia was cotton balls with some type of solution on it. The solution on the cotton balls later field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Also found on a table were food items including soup and crackers, a microwave and a burner. Holt later found out the microwave and burner were taken from another location he did not have permission to be. He also did not have permission to take items from that residence.
Perry was arrested on June 20 and is being held without bond until his initial court appearance which is scheduled on June 27.
On Sept. 28, 2021, he was convicted of theft in Monroe County.
He is currently facing charges of:
Burglary, a Class 5 Felony
Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 6 Felony
Theft with a prior conviction of theft or conversion, a Class 6 Felony
Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class C Misdemeanor
