Swerving driver goes to jail for OVWI with kids on board
/A report that a vehicle had been swerving all over the roadway, had run a stop sign, and had almost hit multiple cars ended up in the arrest of a 28-year-old Jasonville woman on felony operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a passenger less than 18 years of age and misdemeanor operating a vehicle while intoxicated charges.
Linton Police Department Officer Janzen Franklin responded to a call June 24 regarding the black GMC with paper license plates. The caller advised the vehicle had been parked at Camelot Court. When arriving at Camelot Court, Officer Franklin observed Wynter Hale exiting the vehicle. She admitted to driving the vehicle there but denied consuming alcoholic beverages or taking any medication.
Hale admitted that two minor children, ages eight and one, were in the vehicle with her during this time.
Franklin obtained consent to perform field sobriety tests, all of which Hale failed. A chemical blood draw was later obtained at Greene County General Hospital, results pending.
Hale then admitted to taking legally prescribed drugs at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. She said she was driving on Lone Tree Road and a male was driving really fast behind her so she sped up to get away from him. She said he kept getting closer to her and stated that Lone Tree was a bumpy road.
Hale was arrested by Officer Franklin and transported to Greene County Jail. Her bond was set at $8,000 surety with 10 percent cash allowed.
She was charged with:
Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, endangering a person less than 18 years of age, a Level 6 Felony
Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, a Class C Misdemeanor
