New entries on the morning Jail Log at the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026:

Aug. 29, 8:10 p.m., Michael David Kuhlenschmidt, 44, Lyons, was arrested on a preliminary charge of public intoxication. His bond was set at $500 surety with 10% cash allowed. He was released after posting $50. 

Aug. 30, 1:31 a.m., Eric Joseph Townsend, 41, Newberry, was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangerment, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, battery with bodily injury, and criminal vandalism. His bond was set at $6,590 surety with 10% cash allowed, He was released after posting $650.

Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Individuals are booked into jail on warrants issued by courts or on “preliminary charges” based on recommendations of investigating or arresting officers. Charges may change when a new case is filed in court by the prosecutor who reviews the case and makes the charging decision.
