LPD reminds parade-goers of street closures on Monday, July 4

Indiana’s largest Independance Day parade is happening in Linton on July 4 and to facilitate the parade route and the thousands of parade-goers, streets within the city will be closed before the parade start time of 10 a.m.

“Between 8:30 and 9, streets will be closed down to clear for the parade to start at 10,” said Linton Police Department Chief Paul Clark.

Traffic will be re-routed using 12th Street Northeast, 5th Street Northwest and Vincennes Street.

Also at this time, roads within two blocks of the parade route will be barricaded to assist in clearing the parade route.

“We will open the streets up quickly as the parade is completed,” Clark said.

Chief Clark asks that drivers be mindful not only of pedestrians but also of those directing traffic and barricades
