‘Operation Dry Water’ to target boating while under the influence July 2-4

The Independence Day holiday typically means more boaters spending more time on the water across the United States, which typically results in an increase in the number of boating incidents and fatalities.

As a result, from July 2–4, Indiana Conservation Officers, in partnership with the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and the U.S. Coast Guard, will participate in the national Operation Dry Water heightened awareness and enforcement weekend.

LPD reminds parade-goers of street closures on Monday, July 4

Indiana’s largest Independance Day parade is happening in Linton on July 4 and to facilitate the parade route and the thousands of parade-goers, streets within the city will be closed before the parade start time of 10 a.m.

“Between 8:30 and 9, streets will be closed down to clear for the parade to start at 10,” said Linton Police Department Chief Paul Clark.
