ISP investigation leads to pursuit and arrest of two suspected of dealing meth in Greene and other counties

Lawrence County - Tuesday, January 5, 2021, the Indiana State Police concluded a lengthy investigation into dealing methamphetamine. ISP received information that Heather A. Blessing, age 34, of Ellettsville, IN and Eric M. Flaherty, age 39, of Louisville, KY were involved in dealing methamphetamine in Lawrence, Greene, and Monroe counties.

While others were ringing in the New Year or watching the ball drop on television last Thursday night, numerous law enforcement officers in Greene County were negotiating with a suspect on the scene of a stand-off. When a rural Bloomfield man involved in a domestic altercation, who was in a house with a young child, refused to exit or open the door, a deputy with search warrant in hand forced the door open. Officers entered and after a struggle, the suspect was taken into custody.

On December 19, 2020, 36 new troopers graduated from the Indiana State Police 80th Recruit Academy after completing a journey of 25 weeks of rigorous training. The recruits completed over 1,100 hours of academic and hands-on training in criminal and traffic law, crash investigation, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, firearms, and other classes necessary for modern policing. Yesterday, two new troopers assigned to the Bloomington Post reported for their first shift.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department has recovered the Bobcat and trailer and other equipment, with an estimated value of over $30,000, that was stolen from the Eastern Fire Department in early December. GCSD Detective David Elmore reports that an anonymous tip led to the discovery of the stolen goods at a residence in the Lawrence Hollow area of eastern Greene County.

A Terre Haute man who led officers on a New Year’s Eve pursuit in Sullivan County, first on a highway, then over a curb and into pine trees in a small town, then on foot through the woods, was taken into custody after a physical struggle with officers. A Bloomfield woman who was a passenger in his Cadillac was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the disappearance of William Wright, a 90 year old white male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 195 pounds, white hair with brown eyes, last seen wearing a dark blue coat and blue jeans, driving a white 2001 Ford F250 truck with a Indiana plate of D457HD

William is missing from Bloomington, Indiana which is 57 miles South of Indianapolis, last seen on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 10:40 am . He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.
