Christmas Eve Crash: WPD asks for tip to locate maroon 2004-2005 Ford Ranger or Focus
/On Christmas Eve, a Worthington man’s house was damaged when it was hit by a vehicle that was able to back out of the situation and leave the scene. An investigation by the Worthington Police Department reveals they’re looking for a maroon 2004-2005 Ford vehicle, possibly a maroon 2004-2005 Ford Ranger or Focus, and they’re asking for help from the public to locate the vehicle.
Worthington Town Marshal Jim O’Malley said that sometime on Thursday, December 24, there was a loud noise on the east side of Worthington and when Charles Sullivan walked through the yard of his residence at 26 Center Street, he saw his house had damage to the foundation and the siding.
Sullivan’s home is located at the corner of Center Street and State Road 157 where SR 157 makes a 90-degree turn.
Officer O’Malley reported that tire tracks indicate the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into the foundation of the home then continued on a path alongside the house, making contact with and damaging the siding. He said the vehicle then backed out onto SR 157 and traveled west toward the downtown area of Worthington.
Several pieces of debris were left behind and Officer O’Malley was able to determine from numbers on some of the debris that the suspect vehicle is a maroon 2004-2005 Ford.
O’Malley reported the suspect vehicle would have sustained damage to the left side front end and would have a broken parking light.
In addition, O’Malley said during the on-scene investigation, measurements taken of tire width, the width between tires and the height of the impact above the ground are all consistent with the suspect vehicle being a 2004-2005 Ford Ranger or Focus
Anyone with a tip or information on the whereabouts of the vehicle or driver is asked to contact the Worthington Police Department by calling Greene County Dispatch at the sheriff’s department at 812-384-4411.
