Steven "Steve" R. Barcus, 73, of Jasonville, IN went home to be with his Lord at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Gibson Family Hospice in Terre Haute, IN.

He was born August 30, 1952 in Brazil, IN to William Raymond Barcus and Mary E. (Cooprider) Barcus.

Survivors include his children, Eric Barcus (Jennifer) of Jasonville, IN, Kortini Martindale (Derek Welling) of Terre Haute, IN; grandchildren, Wyatt Barcus, Reece Martindale, and Davis Martindale; siblings, Mary Beth Strain (Randy) of Weldon Spring, MO; sister-in-law, Rita Barcus of Farmersburg, IN; 3-nieces 2-nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Michael Barcus.

After graduating in the Class of 1970 from North Central High School, Steve was a farmer for many years. He was a past member on the REMC Board of Directors. His hobbies included shooting trap and sporting clays, fishing, and hunting. In the springtime, he liked hunting mushrooms and playing golf. He loved taking drives in the country looking at crops and eating at Subway with Wyatt Lincoln. When he was at home, he would watch Westerns and enjoyed spending time with his many friends. Some of his favorite stories to share were his trips out west to shoot prairie dogs.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2025 at the Funeral Home. Services are immediately following at 1 p.m. with Pastor Terry Dowell officiating.

Interment will be at Nyes Chapel Cemetery in Farmersburg, IN.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Steve to Hopewell Children’s Home in Belize. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
