Richard D. "Rick" Nelson
/Richard D. "Rick" Nelson, 70, of Jasonville, IN passed away at 4:05 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born November 28, 1955 in Brazil, IN to Lloyd Nelson and Gilberta (Cooprider) Nelson.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Robin (Skelton) Nelson of Jasonville, IN who he married on November 1990; children, Brittaney Cook (Kelcy) of Bowling Green, IN, Brooklyn Jenkins (Tanner) of Jasonville, IN; grandchildren, Nickilias, Dominic, Ruth, Zoey, Savanna, Charlotte; brothers, Ron Nelson (Dawn) of Clay City, IN, Larry Nelson of Sullivan, IN; father & mother in-law, Robert & Dorothy Skelton of Clay City, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Nelson; brother in-law, Robbie Skelton; sister in-law, Ruth Delorme.
Rick graduated from Clay City High School Class of 1974. He worked for the town of Clay City for several years, he also delivered newspapers and worked as a janitor. Rick enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids. He enjoyed trips to the park to watch the birds and working on cars. His pride and joy were his 3 Chevelles. He was a board member of Gods Safe Haven for 10 years and loved being able to help others.
Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Funeral Home. Services are immediately following at 1 p.m. with Ross Deschamp officiating.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Rick to Cox Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. Envelopes will available at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Clay City, IN.
