Convicted murderer Jesse Stephens is back in jail

In 2001, Jesse Stephens was convicted of the 1996 murder of his wife, Michelle Stephens. He served his time, was released and has been on probation. Late Tuesday night, a citizen reported a truck was “all over the road.” GCSD Deputy Alan Jackson located the truck, crossing the center line near the Lighthouse Junction, made the stop and arrested Stephens on drug charges.

This year's National Night Out event canceled; LPD planning for NNO in 2021

The Linton Police Department, organizers of the annual county-wide National Night Out for Greene County event held in Linton, announced today that the NNA event has been cancelled for this year.

According to their announcement, the decision weighed heavily on the hearts of all the planners who made the decision based on the inability to ensure the safety of the youth of our community who attend the event.

The annual event, always held in August, attracts children, parents and citizens from across the county and law enforcement and social service agencies throughout the county participate.

The LPD said they have already started planning the next NNO event for Aug 3, 2021.

Attempted murder suspect in custody after being detained by Jasonville residents

Dustin Turley, 33, Jasonville, is in custody. Turley was wanted for attempted murder following a shooting incident that occurred in Hymera late Friday night. Turley apparently arrived in Jasonville this afternoon, Sunday, August 2, where he was detained by local residents who contacted the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. Turley has been booked into the Sullivan County Jail where his bond is set at $50,000 cash only.

Jasonville man shot multiple times, another Jasonville man is on the run

A Jasonville man, Trenton Keller, 33, was shot multiple times in Hymera late Friday night and the suspect, another Jasonville man, Dustin Turley, 33, is wanted for attempted murder. Turley is on the run. Keller was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital. If anyone sees or comes into contact with Turley, ISP says they should immediately call 911 or contact the Putnamville State Police Post at 1-800-225-8576.
