Tyler Scott Verhines, 29, Gosport, was arrested by Deputy Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Sunday night, August 2.

Deputy Allor was dispatched a little before 8 p.m. last Sunday to a residence on East Timber Trace Drive where the resident had reported that his nephew, Tyler Verhines, was there and he didn’t want him there. Verhines allegedly drove through the resident’s yard and parked his black truck next to the resident’s house.

When Deputy Allor arrived, he found Verhines inside the truck. Two residents told the deputy Verhines doesn’t live there and should not be on the property. They said Verhines is still using drugs and said Verhines had thrown syringes out of the truck beside the resident’s mailbox. The resident gave those to the deputy.

Deputy Allor reported Verhines was continuously moving, had quick speech, was making involuntary movements and he had dilated pupils.

Verhines allegedly said he had not used methamphetamine for three days and there was nothing in the truck. He offered to let the deputy search the truck. The deputy then found a syringe under the center console – it field-tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. Then he found another syringe with a red liquid inside and a metal marijuana grinder with green plant material. Verhines claimed his uncle must have put those things in his truck.

Verhines was taken into custody and booked in around 10 p.m. to the Greene County Jail where he was held without bond pending a court appearance.

Charges filed against Verhines include: Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony.
