The City of Jasonville is inviting residents to honor veterans and active-duty military personnel through a banner program that will recognize their service along Main Street.

The Linton Water Department will begin flushing fire hydrants throughout the city's water system Sunday evening, Oct. 25.

The flushing process is expected to take four nights, with crews working from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night.

Veterans, their families, and area residents will have access to a variety of free services and community resources Monday, Oct. 19, as two events bring together organizations dedicated to serving Greene and Sullivan counties.

Drivers traveling through Linton on Thursday evening may have wondered why a bunch of bananas was running alongside the road.

They were not seeing things.

Members of the Linton-Stockton cross country team traded their usual practice attire for banana costumes and sunglasses before heading out to complete their miles.

The Town of Bloomfield is under a boil water order, according to a statement issued by Bloomfield School District Superintendent Dr. Scott Van Der Aa.

As a precaution, the school district will provide bottled water to all students and staff to ensure access to safe drinking water throughout the school day.

Due to a water main break, Eastern Heights Utilities Inc. has issued a BOIL ORDER for the following affected areas. This will be in effect until further notice.

The affected areas are within the city limits of Bloomfield, including Hashtown. This excludes customers North of Sand Road and North of Honeysuckle Road, customers North of 297 N Cold Springs Road and South of 1138 S. Baseline Road.

Guests visiting Shakamak State Park today may notice smoke in the area as park staff conduct a controlled burn on park property.

Metropolitan School District of Shakamak residents will have two informal opportunities to speak with Superintendent Dr. Jacinda Smith about the district’s upcoming operating referendum.

A Solsberry woman was arrested Oct. 1 after Indiana State Police allegedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in her bedroom during a probation search.
