Linton Water Department to begin hydrant flushing Oct. 25

The Linton Water Department will begin flushing fire hydrants throughout the city's water system Sunday evening, Oct. 25.

The flushing process is expected to take four nights, with crews working from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night.

All flushing activities are scheduled to be completed by 6 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29.

During the process, water customers may notice temporary discoloration of their water.

City officials recommend limiting laundry during the overnight flushing hours, as discolored water could stain white or light-colored clothing.

Hydrant flushing is a routine maintenance procedure used to remove sediment from water lines and help maintain water quality throughout the distribution system.

Residents with questions or concerns may contact the Linton Utility Office at 812-847-4971.
