Sharon K. (Cole) Langley-Boyd
/Sharon K. (Cole) Langley-Boyd, 83, of Bloomfield, went home to be with her Lord at 2:18 AM on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Autumn Trace in Linton. She passed peacefully, one day after what would have been her 60th wedding anniversary with her first husband, William.
Sharon was born on April 29, 1943, in Harrisburg, Illinois, to Wavie Washington Cole and Evanelle (Logsdon) Cole. She graduated from Thornton Fractional South High School in 1962. On October 29, 1966, she married William D. Langley. They shared nearly 38 years together, raising a family and building a life rooted in faith. In 2003 they moved to Greene County, Indiana, looking forward to a quiet retirement in the countryside. William died the next year, in 2004. God gave Sharon another chapter of love in 2008, when she married Paul Boyd. Together they shared 18 years of marriage.
Faith was at the center of Sharon's life. She was a faithful member of Linton First Baptist Church, and her greatest joy was telling children about Jesus. She started each day with her Bible and devotions, and she found peace working in her garden, where she could see God's handiwork up close.
Sharon also loved a good story, especially the ones she lived. She was proud to have written her memoirs, Sharon Kay Cole: A Collection of Life Stories . The book is a gift to her family, keeping her memories and her faith for the generations who come after her.
Sharon leaves behind a family who will miss her deeply: her husband, Paul Boyd; her children, Tammy Sue (Ralph) Hart and Pastor Keith Dale Langley; her stepchildren, Barry Boyd and Connie (Kevin) Griffin; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Waiting to welcome her home were her parents; her first husband, William D. Langley; her brother, Eddie A. (Jean) Cole; and her sister, Brenda (Nick) DeLaurents.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sharon's life at Linton First Baptist Church on Thursday, November 5, 2026. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the service at 1:00 PM. Her son, Pastor Keith D. Langley, will officiate. Sharon will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville, Indiana. Please come prepared to write, or with, a written memory of Sharon to place in a memory box.
Sharon spent her life sharing Jesus with children. In that same spirit, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child, for The Greatest Journey Discipleship Program, in place of flowers. Envelopes will be available at the church.
Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, of Walton Funeral Service, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.welchcornett.com
