Greene County National Night Out set for Tuesday at Humphreys Park

Greene County families are invited to Humphreys Park Tuesday evening for National Night Out, an annual event bringing together residents, law enforcement and community organizations for an evening of activities and fellowship.

Greene County National Night Out will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Humphreys Park in Linton. The event is hosted by the Greene County Alliance and Linton Police Department as part of a nationwide initiative designed to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

Prometheus Energetics to host community open house Aug. 24

Greene County residents will have an opportunity later this month to learn more about Prometheus Energetics and its plans for a solid rocket motor and energetics manufacturing campus in the county, which is set to open in 2027. Prometheus Energetics will host a Community Open House at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at Heshey Hall at the Greene County Community Event Center, 4503 W. State Road 54 in Bloomfield.

Several members of the Prometheus team, including company leadership and those involved in planning the Greene County campus, are expected to attend.

Jasonville Utilities to begin systemwide fire hydrant flushing Monday

The Jasonville Utilities Department will begin flushing fire hydrants throughout the city on Monday, Aug. 3, as part of routine maintenance to improve water quality and ensure the hydrant system remains in proper working order. The flushing program will continue over the next several weeks.

During the maintenance period, residents may notice temporary water discoloration, a slight decrease in water pressure, or cloudy water. Utility officials said these conditions are normal and temporary, and the water will remain safe for use.

Internet outage limits payments to cash only at Shakamak State Park

Visitors to Shakamak State Park should plan to bring cash after an internet outage temporarily disabled the park's ability to process credit and debit card transactions. Park officials said internet service is currently unavailable throughout the park because a fiber optic line was cut outside the park. As a result, all park facilities are currently accepting cash payments only until service is restored.

Lane closures planned for I-69 in Greene County

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces lane closures for I-69 in Greene County. Beginning on or around Friday, July 31, crews will begin lane closures on I-69 near Bloomfield. These lane closures will occur in both directions of travel between U.S. 231 and State Road 45 over Black Ankle Creek.

Lane closures will allow for bridge deck overlay work, new approaches, and other repairs to be done. One lane of travel in both directions will remain open through the work zone. This work is expected to last through the end of November, depending on the weather. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones.
