Jasonville Utilities to begin systemwide fire hydrant flushing Monday

The Jasonville Utilities Department will begin flushing fire hydrants throughout the city on Monday, Aug. 3, as part of routine maintenance to improve water quality and ensure the hydrant system remains in proper working order.

The flushing program will continue over the next several weeks.

During the maintenance period, residents may notice temporary water discoloration, a slight decrease in water pressure, or cloudy water. Utility officials said these conditions are normal and temporary, and the water will remain safe for use.

If discoloration occurs, customers are encouraged to run cold water from a faucet for several minutes until the water clears. Residents are also advised to use caution when doing laundry, as discolored water may stain light-colored clothing.

Hydrant flushing is a routine maintenance procedure that helps remove sediment from water mains, maintain water quality, and verify that fire hydrants are operating properly.
