Bloomfield police arrest man on Monroe County warrant following traffic stop

A traffic stop late Wednesday night led to the arrest of a man wanted in Monroe County, according to the Bloomfield Police Department.

Deputy Marshals Cade Laughman and Jordan Brant stopped a red Ford Super Duty near State Road 54 and J.L. Wilson Road at approximately 11:56 p.m. Aug. 5 after reportedly observing the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

Police identified the driver as Richard Wayne Gibbs Jr. During the stop, officers learned Gibbs was wanted on an active Monroe County warrant for an alleged probation violation stemming from an original charge of stalking, a Level 5 felony.

After confirming the warrant, officers took Gibbs into custody and transported him to the Greene County Jail without incident.
