Two people were arrested Wednesday following a domestic disturbance at a Bloomfield apartment complex that investigators say escalated from a fight between the pair into separate confrontations involving a knife, a handgun and an alleged violation of a court-issued no-contact order.

Chase D. Wright, 26, of Bloomington is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on Aug. 3, while at the time of press, an initial hearing had not yet been set for 22-year-old Dawsen L. Hillenberg, 22, of Bloomfield.

According to probable cause affidavits filed by Bloomfield Town Marshal Kenneth Tharp, officers were dispatched at approximately 1:21 p.m. July 29 to the Village apartment complex at 432 W. Turner St. after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a witness, who identified herself as a family member of Hillenberg’s. According to the affidavit, the witness told officers Wright and Hillenberg had been involved in a verbal argument that turned physical while inside Wright's vehicle, with the two allegedly pushing, shoving and kicking one another.

Investigators also determined Wright was prohibited from being at the apartment complex because of a valid no-contact order issued by the court earlier this year. Officers confirmed the order was still in effect before taking Wright into custody.

Wright is charged with Level 6 felony invasion of privacy based on a prior unrelated conviction and Class B misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

While officers were at the Greene County Jail with Wright, they were called back to the apartment complex after receiving another report involving Hillenberg.

According to the affidavit, the witness reported Hillenberg had shoved her and threatened her with a knife. When officers returned, they found Hillenberg arguing with the witness on the sidewalk.

As Hillenberg was taken into custody, Tharp reported seeing what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun inside a pink floral bag next to her. The bag was seized as part of the investigation.

After initially being reluctant to cooperate, the witness told investigators Hillenberg had threatened her with the knife before using it to scratch the paint along the sides and rear of her vehicle. According to the affidavit, Hillenberg then made a remark to the effect of, "How do you like that?"

The apartment complex manager also provided investigators with a statement and surveillance video from the property.

According to the affidavit, the complex manager told police she observed Hillenberg damaging Adkins' vehicle before walking toward her grandmother while holding a sharp object and saying, "How do you like that? And you are next!"

The complex manager told investigators she then saw the witness gasp for air, stumble backward, and lose a shoe after Hillenberg allegedly shoved or struck her in the chest. The complex manager called 911 for officers to return to the scene.

Tharp reported reviewing surveillance footage from the apartment complex, which he said showed Hillenberg pointing a handgun at the witness in a threatening manner. The video also allegedly showed Hillenberg threatening Adkins with a knife or other sharp instrument before shoving her in the chest and abdomen.

When questioned later about the handgun, the witness told investigators she had not initially reported it because Hillenberg was her family member. According to the affidavit, the witness said she became fearful when the firearm was displayed.

Hillenberg is charged with Level 5 felony intimidation for allegedly drawing or using a deadly weapon, Level 6 felony pointing a firearm at another person, two counts of Class A misdemeanor domestic battery, Class B misdemeanor criminal vandalism, and Class B misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
