The Jasonville Utilities Department will begin flushing fire hydrants throughout the city on Monday, Aug. 3, as part of routine maintenance to improve water quality and ensure the hydrant system remains in proper working order. The flushing program will continue over the next several weeks.

During the maintenance period, residents may notice temporary water discoloration, a slight decrease in water pressure, or cloudy water. Utility officials said these conditions are normal and temporary, and the water will remain safe for use.

Visitors to Shakamak State Park should plan to bring cash after an internet outage temporarily disabled the park's ability to process credit and debit card transactions. Park officials said internet service is currently unavailable throughout the park because a fiber optic line was cut outside the park.
