Two people were arrested Monday, July 27, in connection with vandalism discovered at the Linton-Stockton High School football field.

Andrew Alexander, 18, and Jose Sevilla-Garcia, 20, were identified by investigators as two of three masked individuals who allegedly entered the locked football field during the early morning hours of May 11, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Greene County Superior Court.

Alexander and Sevilla-Garcia each face a preliminary charge of criminal trespass, a Level 6 Felony.

The investigation began after Linton-Stockton’s school resource officer contacted Linton Police Department Officer Cade Herndon about the vandalism.

Surveillance footage reportedly showed three people dressed in black and wearing masks walking through a school parking lot at approximately 2:55 a.m. One carried a weed sprayer, another carried a piece of cardboard and the third was empty-handed, the affidavit states.

The three allegedly entered the football field, which police said was locked with padlocks accessible only to authorized Linton-Stockton personnel.

Aerial photographs later showed extensive damage to the field. Police reported the dead grass formed multiple obscene images, an expletive directed at a school administrator and several other lines and patches.

During interviews, Alexander and Sevilla-Garcia reportedly acknowledged being on the field with a third person. Both told police this person sprayed the weed killer while they watched and denied operating the sprayer themselves.

Another person interviewed by police also identified Alexander, Sevilla-Garcia and Wilkes as the three people seen inside the field.

Both individuals were booked into the Greene County Jail July 27. Each had a bond of $4,000 surety with 10% cash allowed. Both were released after posting $400.
