Updated: Fire investigation results in arrest of Linton couple accused of arson

The owner of a Linton business and his wife, whose log home burned in a hot fire in early August, were taken into custody today after a warrant was issued for their arrest this morning. They are accused of multiple counts of arson and conspiracy to commit arson following an investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Linton Police Department and personnel from numerous agencies. The arrest was made by personnel from the State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted by officers from the Linton Police Department.

All clear at Eastern Greene, school to resume as normal on Monday

Information from Eastern Greene Schools as released by Center-Jackson Fire on Sunday morning: As of August 26th, 2019, Eastern Greene Schools will resume normal operations after several different agencies tested the air inside of the school. All of these tests came back negative for any harmful substances.

UPDATE around 7:45 p.m. = Eastern Greene Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, August 23. Tests are underway to insure air quality. ………. Around 6:30 p.m., Thursday, August 22, Center-Jackson Fire released the following information: “There has been a hazardous material incident at the Eastern Greene Middle School. Some people have been transported to area hospitals for observation. There are no major injuries at this time. The state Fire Marshall’s office is on scene investigating, along with local fire departments. There is no gas leak in the school. As we have more information available we will update. Please disregard rumors on social media. Can follow Center-Jackson Fire Territory social media for updates on official information.”
