Viola A. Crowe

Viola A. Crowe, 94, of Solsberry, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 9, 2026. Born in Greene County, Indiana on January 25, 1931, she was the daughter of William (Bill) and Jessie Cooksey of Solsberry.

Viola attended Solsberry Schools. She married Dale L. Crowe on December 31, 1950 and was married for 39 years until Dale’s passing on February 2, 1990. Viola (affectionately known as “Toots” to her family) was a homemaker and farm wife. While raising their two children, she babysat for numerous local children and ironed clothes for many in the community. Viola was a long-time member of the Cincinnati Christian Church. She was a wonderful Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma. She loved attending and hearing all about her grandkids and great-grandkids sporting and 4-H events. She loved being outdoors working in the garden, mowing her yard and helping on the farm. In her later years, when it was more difficult for her to do outdoor work, she spent her time reading, doing word search books, puzzles and sitting on the back porch supervising. Every summer, she always made sure she planted the first tomato plant.

Surviving relatives include daughter Brenda (Buck) Crohn of Bloomington and son Dennis (Jerilyn) Crowe of Solsberry; her grandchildren, Kelley (Steve) Martin of Bloomington, Brooke (Jeff) Rees of Solsberry, Brett (Kristen) Crowe of Carmel, Paytan Sherer of Solsberry and Sydnee Parks (Scott) of Tennessee; her great-grandchildren: Wyatt Martin, Shelby Martin, Sam Rees (Morgan Pent), Jack Rees (Addie Ikard), Max Crowe, Finley Crowe, Harrison Parks, Henry Parks and Harvey Parks. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Glen Crowe and sisters-in-law, Dova Crowe and Nina Crowe all of Bloomfield. Plus, many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Crowe, special friend, Herb Watkins; parents, Bill and Jessie Cooksey, sister, Hazel (Pete) Lewis and brothers, Eugene (Alberta) Cooksey and Willis (Ethelmae) Cooksey, parents-in-law, Bryan and Nellie Crowe, brothers-in-law, Jim (Inez) Crowe, Sam Crowe, Raynard Crowe, sisters-in-law, Naomi (Alvin) Carmichael and Leona (Max) Frye.

Graveside services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield, with pastor Stewart Cobine and Rev. Troy Borst officiating. Jenkins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
