Jerry L. Hudson

Jerry L. Hudson, 84, of Bloomfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Sunday, January 11, 2025, at Daviess Community Hospital.

He was born September 22, 1941, in Linton, Indiana, to Alvin D. and Marjorie J. (Crowe) Hudson.

Jerry was a high school graduate of Bloomfield High School and a graduate of Indiana University. He was a loyal fan of Indiana University and watched many, if not all, games I.U. played. He was a teacher for 40 plus years. He taught school at Eastern Greene Elementary and Oakland City before moving to Kingman, Arizona, and teaching at Kingman High School, before retiring from Kingman Academy of Learning in 2009. Jerry was an avid reader and loved to watch old westerns.

Jerry was married to Kathryn “Elaine” Hudson on August 27, 1966, in a joint ceremony with Elaine’s twin sister, Loraine, and Jerry’s cousin, Bill Hosteter.

Surviving relatives include: his wife, Elaine Hudson; three children, Melanie (Paul) Chamberlain, Tim (Debbie) Hudson, and Marla (Scott) Small; his grandchildren, Aaron Chamberlain, Ashlie (Kenny) Hinkle, Kyle Hudson, Katie (Rhett) Whaley, Ashley Small, and Jared Small; and his great grandchildren, Everly and Ezra Hinkle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin D. and Marjorie J. (Crowe) Hudson, several aunts and uncles, brother-in-law, Edward Snider, niece, Kristi Finley, and cousin, Bill Hosteter.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2025, from 11:00a.m. — 1:00p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1:00p.m. with Rev. Bob England officiating. The burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

The family asks that all memorial contributions be made to Ketcham Memorial Center (Daisy House) in Odon, Indiana, where he was a resident for the last months of his life.
