Edna M. (Spanger) Berry

Edna M. Berry, 94, of Linton, Indiana, went to Heaven with family by her side, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Autumn Trace in Linton. She was born on February 16, 1931, in Vincennes, Indiana to Henry C. and Frieda (Albrecht) Spanger. Edna married the love of her life, Robert Earl Berry, on February 20, 1952.

Edna was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ and Order of Eastern Star #371 in Lyons, where she served as Past Worthy Matron. She worked in Explosive Ordinance at Crane Naval Support Center before retiring in 1977.  Edna enjoyed writing poems and short stories, traveling, reading, knitting and crocheting. She also loved singing and playing music. She liked to watch her grandchildren at their sporting events and was their most avid fan.

Family left to cherish the memory of Edna includes a son, Michael (Julia) Berry of Bedford; a daughter, Patti Jones of Linton; grandchildren, Matthew Berry, Christopher Berry, Sean Berry, Lauren Jones Spears, Tomi Lynn Anderson, Jill Tucker and Jodi Vasquez; ten great-grandchildren and one sister, Gertrude (Dayhuff) Rush.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Earl Berry; son-in-law, Tom Jones; brother, Walter Spanger; sisters, Martha Ann Hamilton, Helen Lee, Elfrieda (Fields) Hartsburg and Dorthea Shake.

Funeral services to honor the life of Edna will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2025, at Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia with Pastor Rhonda Haynes officiating. Edna will be laid to rest in Salem Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Church of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the church. A special thank you and appreciation to the staff of Autumn Trace and Southern Care Hospice for care of our loved one.
