A 31-year-old Linton man was arrested Sept. 1 after allegedly taking items from a local grocery store twice and leaving without paying for them. 

Trespassing and refusing to leave a property that wasn’t his resulted in the Sept. 5 arrest of a 45-year-old Jasonville man. 

A 64-year-old Pimento man was arrested Sept. 11 on a warrant for sexual battery after allegedly inappropriately touching a female at a Greene County establishment on Aug. 19. 

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to a one vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in which the driver was air lifted to an Indianapolis hospital for injuries. 

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is requesting assistance in locating a subject, who is considered armed and dangerous, in an escape and robbery investigation.

They are attempting to locate Philbert Wright, who is approximately 5 feet seven inches and weighs 170 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous. If located, do not approach – contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Department or call 911.

Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Zachary Goad is the investigating officer.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded Sept. 3 to the scene of a one-vehicle fatal accident near County Road 1250 West and County Road 500 North. 

The Indiana State Police Putnamville Post has received several concerns from citizens reporting an apparent phone scam.  The Putnamville Post receives numerous reports of phone scams each year, but this particular scam involves using the Putnamville State Police phone number and officers’ names.

A 47-year-old Solsberry man with a lifetime suspension of his driver’s license was arrested on various charges after operating a dirt bike on a public road in eastern Greene County on Aug. 18. 

A traffic stop initiated on Aug. 18 after the driver crossed the center line and drove on the wrong side of the road resulted in the arrest of two men on drug-related charges. 

A 54-year-old Bloomfield man was arrested Aug. 14 on charges of domestic battery after allegedly striking his father in the face. 

A 22-year-old Odon man was arrested on alcohol-related charges after a one-vehicle accident in the late evening hours of Aug. 11 on County Road 425 South.

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has predicted the heat index to be well past 100 degrees in Greene County — and one of the highest in the southern portion of the state — on Thursday and Friday. 

A shelter will be open at the Bloomfield Community Building, 498 North Lincoln Drive, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 through Friday, Aug. 25, according to Roger Axe, Director of Greene County Emergency Management.

The Jasonville Fire Department and the department’s auxiliary members are hosting a fundraiser to help raise funds to purchase and upgrade equipment. 

The Indiana Association of Fire Fighters Local 3087, a local labor union to which the City of Linton firefighters belong, is bringing back a popular fundraiser to help raise money for community outreach programs, scholarships, and other opportunities to give back and serve the community.
