Mary Lou Gouckenour

Mary Lou Gouckenour, age 96, of Linton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 3, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Linton on March 7, 1929, the daughter of William and Eva Leona (Hochstetler) Terrell.

Mary Lou worked at Noel's Grocery Store in Worthington for several years and was a homemaker. Her passion for service shown brightly as one of the original consultants at Pregnancy Choices in Linton, a volunteer at Glenburn Home, and chairman of the Greene County Mental Health - roles where her warm kindness and unwavering faith touched countless lives. A faithful member of Linton First Baptist Church, Mary Lou found joy in simple acts of giving her time and talent.

She is survived by her son, Tony Gouckenour of Linton; and three grandchildren, David Sparks, Jr., Ronald Sparks, and Season Weddle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Aaron Barton; second husband, Fred L. Gouckenour; a daughter, Lisa Sparks; a grandson, Jason Gouckenour; three brothers, Bob Terrell, Roy Terrell, and William Terrell, Jr.; and two sisters, Juanita Pearl and Hazel Burris.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton of Walton Funeral Service at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, with Rev. David Tyra officiating. Burial will follow at Worthington Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
