INDIANAPOLIS – Governor Eric J. Holcomb is directing flags in the State of Indiana to be flown at half-staff in honor and remembrance of Master Trooper James R. Bailey who was killed in the line of duty. Flags should be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, March 11. Gov. Holcomb is asking businesses and residents in Indiana to lower their flags to half-staff.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Jasonville woman after she failed to retrieve all her bags from a shopping trip at Family Dollar, leaving a baggie of methamphetamine on the checkout counter.  UPDATE: After a warrant was issued for her arrest, the Jasonville woman accused of leaving a bag of meth on a store checkout counter was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail last Thursday, March 2, around 10:12 PM.

(DeKalb County, IN)- The Indiana State Police is mourning the loss of one of its own as a result of a vehicle crash incident which occurred last Friday afternoon on Interstate 69 south of Auburn. The crash claimed the life of  Master Trooper James R. Bailey, 50, of Auburn, IN, who served with the Indiana State Police for more than fifteen years.

Work continues on I-70 box culvert installation starting on/after March 13, near Little Point

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation announces work continues on a box culvert installation project under I-70. Starting on or after Monday, March 13, crews will be conducting nighttime lane closures on I-70 eastbound and westbound, in order to shift traffic and install barrier walls. The restrictions will be between County Road 1100 and State Road 231. Traffic will be shifted to two, 11-foot lanes, both eastbound and westbound, separated by the barrier wall. These restrictions will be between 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. The transition to the new traffic configuration is expected to take about a week, weather permitting. This contract was awarded to Morphey Construction, Inc. for $3.6 million. The contract completion date is in early July 2023.  INDOT reminds motorists to slow down, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone.

A man considered to be a serious violent felon was arrested after he was found to be in possession of firearms. Then when the handcuffs were removed when he was booked into the Greene County Jail, he allegedly threatened to choke the deputy who had arrested him.
