Work continues on I-70 box culvert installation starting on/after March 13, near Little Point

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation announces work continues on a box culvert installation project under I-70. Starting on or after Monday, March 13, crews will be conducting nighttime lane closures on I-70 eastbound and westbound, in order to shift traffic and install barrier walls. The restrictions will be between County Road 1100 and State Road 231. Traffic will be shifted to two, 11-foot lanes, both eastbound and westbound, separated by the barrier wall. These restrictions will be between 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. The transition to the new traffic configuration is expected to take about a week, weather permitting. This contract was awarded to Morphey Construction, Inc. for $3.6 million. The contract completion date is in early July 2023.  INDOT reminds motorists to slow down, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone.

Putnam County - On January 9, at approximately 5:45 p.m., an Indiana State Police Trooper stopped a semi tractor-trailer for a motor carrier inspection on Interstate 70 near the forty-one mile marker. During the stop, approximately 115 pounds of cocaine was found in the truck.

Putnam County - In July of 2021, Indiana State Police Master Trooper Detective Brian Maudlin of the Putnamville State Police Post began an investigation into the former president and treasurer of the Cloverdale Community Youth League. During his investigation it was discovered that both individuals had allegedly deprived the Cloverdale Community Youth League of over $21,848.51.
