Putnam County - On March 3, 2023, at approximately 10:35 a.m., the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post responded to the area of Interstate 70 eastbound near the 45-mile marker to investigate a single vehicle accident that claimed the life of one individual.
PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation announces work continues on a box culvert installation project under I-70. Starting on or after Monday, March 13, crews will be conducting nighttime lane closures on I-70 eastbound and westbound, in order to shift traffic and install barrier walls. The restrictions will be between County Road 1100 and State Road 231. Traffic will be shifted to two, 11-foot lanes, both eastbound and westbound, separated by the barrier wall. These restrictions will be between 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. The transition to the new traffic configuration is expected to take about a week, weather permitting. This contract was awarded to Morphey Construction, Inc. for $3.6 million. The contract completion date is in early July 2023. INDOT reminds motorists to slow down, use caution and consider worker safety when traveling through a work zone.
Sellersburg, Ind. - Wednesday, October 26, 2022: Detectives with the Indiana State Police (ISP) in Sellersburg have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of the unidentified boy found inside a suitcase in rural Washington County, Indiana, in April of this year. A warrant for the arrest of a second suspect is still outstanding and ISP is asking for the public’s help to locate the woman whose mug shot is included in this post.
INDIANAPOLIS – Jasaun Pope a/k/a “Biz”, 31, of Valley Stream, New York, was sentenced to 97 months in federal prison late yesterday for mail fraud and money laundering offenses related to his role in a nationwide elder fraud scheme. Pope and four co-conspirators have all signed plea agreements for their roles in the offense, and Pope is the first to be sentenced.
Washington County - On Friday, October 29, 2021, Indiana State Police Detectives from the Sellersburg Post began investigating a shooting that left a 55-year-old Austin, Indiana man dead. A 35-year-old Salem, Indiana woman has been arrested on charges related to the incident.
Columbus, Indiana - Early this morning, October 18, 2021, a motorcyclist was thrown from his motorcycle after striking a deer on I-65 Northbound near the 62 mile marker in southern Bartholomew County. The motorcyclist was killed and a “Good Samaritan” was seriously injured when they were struck by a second vehicle.
Yesterday, October 14, 2021, Detectives from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post began a missing person investigation after a vehicle connected to a 2002 missing person investigation from Delhi Township, Ohio was located in the Ohio River near Aurora, Indiana.
Pike County – Friday evening, October 8, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Trooper Angermeier was patrolling I-69 near the 48 mile-marker when he observed a 2007 Dodge Charger traveling southbound at 104 mph.
Posey County – The Indiana State Police is currently investigating the shooting of a Posey County Sheriff’s Deputy in New Harmony. The incident occurred Saturday evening, September 18, at approximately 6:46 p.m. when Posey County 911 Dispatch received a call reference to a welfare check at 612 Short Street in New Harmony.
Scott County - An Indiana State Trooper from the Sellersburg Post was injured Wednesday morning when a car being hauled on a flatbed trailer broke free from its cargo straps and rolled off a trailer on I-65 Southbound.
Sullivan County - Detectives with the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post are seeking public assistance regarding the fatal shooting that occurred in Carlisle on June 10, 2021. Detectives have identified two male individuals of interest and need the public’s assistance in identifying and locating them. Please take a moment and review the attached photo of the male individuals. Yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, June 9, two Tennessee women were arrested on numerous charges after they stole numerous items from an Edinburgh, Indiana, store and then fled in a vehicle from troopers who attempted to stop them on I-65 in Jackson County. The women were taken into custody after being involved in a crash with a Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy in Scott County, Indiana.
