Daniel Wayne Clark, 38, of Linton was arrested on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender and possession of methamphetamine by Jasonville Police Department Officer Skylar Scott. Alexandria Marie Hale, 25, of Jasonville, was arrested by Scott on a warrant for possession of methamphetamine.

Officer Scott, according to the probable cause affidavit, had been told during an unrelated warrant service that Clark was staying at a North Washington Street residence in Jasonville. During this encounter, Scott learned Clark and Hale had been receiving rides from a female who drove a black minivan.

When Scott drove by the residence, he, according to the probable cause affidavit, saw the black minivan outside and saw a subject exit the driver’s seat. He left the scene and contacted other units to assist.

When Scott returned to the residence with Linton Police Department Officer Janzen Franklin, the minivan was gone. Scott made contact with the owner of the residence, stating he had information that Clark and Hale were at his residence. The owner denied that statement and went back inside his home.

In addition to Franklin, Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputies Camron Frye, Andrew Weeks, and Kelly Hutchens also arrived on the scene to assist.

When the minivan returned to the residence, Scott spoke to the driver who said she was unsure if Clark and Hale were inside the residence. The driver told Scott, according to the probable cause affidavit, that she knew Clark and he would contact her if he needed a ride.

Officer Scott again spoke with the owner of the North Washington Street residence and asked if Clark and Hale were inside. Scott asked for consent to search the residence, which was initially denied by the homeowner; however, while speaking with him, Scott noticed a light turn on inside the home.

Scott then returned to speak with the driver of the minivan. Scott asked how Clark contacts her when he needs a ride. According to the probable cause, she told Scott that Clark texts or calls her when a ride is needed. That particular day, he had texted her. As the driver was attempting to show Officer Scott the message, according to the probable cause affidavit, a call from Clark came in. She answered the phone and placed it on speaker so Scott could hear the call. Clark allegedly told her to call in a robbery because the police were outside the residence.

Scott went to his patrol vehicle to apply for a search warrant while Officer Franklin spoke with the homeowner. Franklin, according to the probable cause affidavit, told the homeowner officers knew Clark and Hale were inside the residence. He allegedly admitted both Clark and Hale were inside, hiding in a bathroom on the west side of the residence. The west side of the residence is where Scott saw the light turn on. At that time, the homeowner gave consent for the home to be searched.

Officer Franklin, Deputy Frye, Deputy Weeks, and Officer Scott entered the residence and began issuing verbal commands to Clark and Hale to exit the bathroom. They did not comply. Eventually, the bathroom door opened and Hale exited. Clark also eventually exited the bathroom.

During a search of Clark, a black digital scale was located in his left front pants pocket. The scale contained a white powder residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Two cell phones and other personal items were also located.

Clark was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony and failure to register as a sex offender, a Level 5 Felony. In the possession of methamphetamine case, his bond was set at $10,000 surety with 10 percent allowed, while in the failure to register as a sex offender charge, the bond was set at $15,000 surety with 10 percent allowed.

Hale was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony. Her bond was set at $10,000 surety with 10 percent allowed.
