ISP ERT team drove armored vehicle into barricaded room to apprehend suspect in Marco stand-off

When three Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to arrest a suspect in Marco Wednesday night, he barricaded a room, hid in a crawl space and they called the Indiana State Police. ISP sent numerous troopers and an ERT team that apprehended the suspect after they deployed tear gas and drove an armored vehicle into the barricaded room.

After Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy James Carpenter was notified of a match between the DNA of a convicted auto thief from Indianapolis and DNA found where a truck had been stolen in Greene County, a warrant was issued for the suspect’s arrest. Arrested, the suspect was transferred to Greene County and appeared in court this week.

It’s been quite a while since a bulldozer was found submerged in the Thousand Islands Lake at Goose Pond at the end of April, 2017.  The case went unsolved, but Indiana Conservation Officers persisted, and charges were filed against two suspects to end 2018.
