Joey Lee Edmonson, 29, Jasonville, was arrested on Wednesday, December 25, by Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Davis Aerne.

The warrant for Edmonson’s arrest was actually issued back on December 11 but Edmonson had not yet been taken into custody.

The warrant came as a result of an investigation by GCSD Deputy Zachary Goad, assisted by Deputy Aerne, that began late Saturday, November 24.

On that night, the two deputies responded to a domestic on North Shanklin Drive in Jasonville after a  male caller, Joey Edmonson, said his wife, who lives in a different community, had tried to kick in his door and had hit him in the head.

Deputy Goad reported they first talked to Edmonson, then located the woman and talked to her. They told different stories. The two had been in an ongoing altercation over the course of the evening, which turned physical. They both described similar events with variations about who hit who and why. He claimed she had hit him with a broom. She claimed he had strangled her with a broom handle.

Deputy Goad took photographs of injuries claimed by both parties and of various physical evidence on the scene including a broken window, shoe prints on a door, mud on pants, and a bent broom handle.

As a result of the officer’s investigation, a criminal case was filed against Edmonson on December 10 and the warrant issued the next day.

Edmonson is facing preliminary charges of strangulation, a Level 6 felony, and battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor.

His bond is set at $5,000 surety with ten percent allowed.

As of Thursday evening, December 26, he was still in jail.
