A woman who said she wanted to go to jail got a ride from a patrolman. She then spent her Christmas and New Years holidays in jail, and she’s still there.

Sheri Lynn Fiscus, 38, of Jasonville, was arrested by Patrolman Jacob Gambill of the Jasonville Police Department after he was dispatched on Sunday, December 23 to a residence in Jasonville about a woman who was refusing to leave. Fiscus had been issued a no-trespassing warning back in March after a similar incident.

When Gambill arrived, the resident said Fiscus was told to leave several times but refused.

When Gambill told Fiscus she needed to leave, Fiscus allegedly said, “No, I want to go to jail.”

When she was reminded of the no-trespassing order, she said she remembered it and just wanted to go to jail. Fiscus ended up in handcuffs being escorted out to a patrol vehicle for the ride to jail.

But, Officer Gambill reported that on the way, Fiscus became upset because she was being arrested for trespassing, saying that would make her an habitual offender. Gambill alleged that Fiscus then raised her foot and kicked him three times on his right arm and yelled, “Charge me for that.”

And so, when Chief Deputy Prosecutor Keven McIntosh filed a criminal case against Fiscus, the charge was battery against a public safety official, a Level 6 felony.

A public defender was appointed to represent Gambill when she appeared in Greene Superior Court this week, on Wednesday, January 2, for her initial hearing.

Her bond at the jail was initially set at $5,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed, but as of late Thursday night, she had not posted bond and remained in jail.
