Call reporting an erratic driver results in arrest

After a caller told a dispatcher about a disoriented driver headed north into Bloomfield on US 231, driving in the wrong lane, a Bloomfield officer responded and located the vehicle. The driver ended up in jail and has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

There’s already been more than one twist in a pending case involving domestic battery and now there’s another. The alleged victim has been receiving messages from an individual using the name “Johnny Sorrow.” A detective alleges Johnny Sorrow is actually a defendant in the case and the messages are in violation of a no-contact order.

When a trooper filled out a form to establish probable cause that a rural Worthington man was driving in an impaired state due to alcohol, he checked the usual boxes for the odor of alcohol, mumbled speech, blood shot eyes, unsteady balance and poor dexterity but he didn’t check the box for an abusive attitude and took the time to write in, “Not at all.”

After an eight-year-old child was found walking along a country road, barefoot in his pajamas, a mile away from his home, a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy investigated the situation and turned her findings over to the prosecutor’s office. Last week a warrant was issued for the arrest of the child’s mother.
