Bloomfield woman, jailed for disorderly conduct in June, arrested again for failure to show up in court
/A warrant was issued Monday, June 25, for the arrest of a rural Bloomfield woman who was arrested the week before and bonded out of jail, but failed to show up in court for her initial hearing. On Tuesday afternoon, she was booked in to the Greene County Jail and a new hearing date will be scheduled.
Maranda Denise Burch, 30, Bloomfield, was first arrested on Thursday, June 21, booked in around 6:30 p.m. on a preliminary charge of disorderly conduct – engaging in fighting or tumultuous conduct, a Class B misdemeanor.
Deputies were first dispatched to check on Burch the day before she was arrested.
Greene County Sheriff’s Detective Shawn Cullison responded along with GCSD Deputies David Elmore and Zachary Goad in the evening of Wednesday, June 20, because a welfare check was requested by someone from the Department of Child and Family Services. They reported Burch had sent them messages that she did not have any food or water.
In a probable cause affidavit filed in this case, Det. Cullison said they located Burch in a camper parked next to a family member’s house in rural Bloomfield. Cullison said Burch appeared to be intoxicated but she did have access to food and water. They spoke with the residents who said they would try to watch her for the night.
Late the next afternoon, on Thursday, June 21, Det. Cullison and Deputy Elmore returned because the residents called in saying Burch was out of control, screaming, and she had tried to physically attack one of them.
Cullison said Burch was yelling inside the camper when they arrived and he learned she was upset over a custody case involving her children. The detective said the camper was in disarray, she was visibly intoxicated and continued to scream profanity as he attempted to speak with her. The residents were afraid Burch would try to fight with them again if deputies left.
Burch was taken into custody by Det. Cullison for disorderly conduct that included fighting with a family member. He said once in his patrol car, she continued to try to kick the dash then later was uncooperative with jail staff.
Her bond was set at $500 surety with ten percent allowed. She posted $50 cash, was released later that evening and given a court date.
Burch was a no-show at her initial hearing scheduled on Monday, June 25, at 1 p.m. so a warrant was issued for her arrest.
On Tuesday afternoon, August 28, she was arrested on the warrant for failure to appear and was booked in to the Greene County Jail where her bond was set at $5,000 surety with ten percent allowed. A new date for her initial hearing will be scheduled in Greene Superior Court.
