Disagreement over handling of clean laundry leads to an arrest

After a Linton couple’s disagreement over the handling of clean laundry and clothes in a closet allegedly escalated into a physical altercation, the woman reported the incident to police. The man was arrested and is now facing a charge of domestic battery where the defendant has been previously convicted of a battery against the same household member – a Level 5 felony.

Noah Paul Wence, 21, Linton, was arrested by Officer Joe Riley of the Linton Police Department on Sunday, August 26, after Riley interviewed both of the individuals involved in the disagreement.

Officer Riley talked to the woman when she walked in to the police department that Sunday afternoon to report the altercation.

According to the officer, she said the argument started the day before, on Saturday, when she got upset about where he had put her clean clothes, so she went into their shared closet, took all of his clothes off the hangers and strung them all over the bedroom.

The next day, on Sunday, she said he confronted her about his clothes that she had thrown on the floor. He demanded she pick them up and she said no, but that made him angry and he head-butted her.

Riley said the woman told him that later when she was sitting on the couch, he again demanded she go and pick up his clothes, she again said no, and then he grabbed her ankles and drug her to the bedroom while screaming at her to pick up the clothes. When she got up, she grabbed her keys and left.

The officer reported she had a bump on her forehead, a cut on a foot and a severe rug burn on her back.

When Wence was called in for an interview, he confirmed the two had gotten into an argument about the clothes on Saturday but he left and spent the rest of the day at a friend’s house. He said on Sunday, he discovered the house had been trashed with all of his clothes thrown across the room.

Wence allegedly said when he talked to the woman, there as a brief verbal argument then he left to go help a friend with his car. He gave the officer the friend’s phone number so they could verify what time Wence arrived at the friend’s house.

Riley reported that when he called and talked to the friend, they said he got there much later than what Wence had claimed.

Wence was transported to the Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $10,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has since posted bond and is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing next week.

Officer Riley noted that in May of 2017, Wence was convicted of domestic battery against the same victim.
