Bloomington man convicted and sentenced

In a case that dates back to 2016, James T. Erwin, now 37, of Bloomington, pleaded guilty this week and was sentenced to six years in prison with two of those years suspended. He was convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 4 felony. He’ll be eligible for good time credit but must serve 75 percent of his time behind bars – that’s at least three years. No details about the accusation against Erwin are included here – it is not available through the court, to protect confidential information.

Police allege he was traveling to Indianapolis to buy quantities of methamphetamine, then returning to Greene County to sell it for a profit. A woman appeared in Greene Superior Court late yesterday and was charged with dealing methamphetamine. Her bond was set at $50,000. She’d only been in Greene County for one day before two GCSD detectives and one deputy showed up at her door. She had just moved and they didn’t give her a chance to get sales going before she was arrested and booked in to the Greene County Jail.
