The Greene County Sheriff’s Department has issued an alert to area residents to be aware of the potential of becoming a victim of home improvement fraud. Det. Sgt. Jim O’Malley sounded the alarm following the GCSD’s investigation into an inflated payment made by an elderly Greene County resident for sub-standard work on her driveway.

Magnus-Stinson and U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler warned the public of a nationwide scam in which callers pose as U.S. Marshals or other government officials and claim that the victim is about to be arrested for not appearing for jury duty, but can avoid arrest by paying a fine. The Vigo County EMA and Sheriff's Office announced its Unmanned Aerial Vehicle program became operational on Sunday, April 29. The team consists of personnel from the emergency management agency, sheriff's office, 911, local firefighters, and volunteers with the EMA communications group. The three aircraft are equipped with both high-resolution and thermal imagery cameras. The team is available to assist public safety agencies in Vigo County as well as surrounding counties in Indiana and Illinois in all aspects of public safety functions.
