Accompanying ISP and the coroner’s office were Dr. Krista Latham, University of Indianapolis Biology and Anthropology Department, and four of her biology students. The purpose was to examine the site and potentially locate any additional skeletal remains. Dr. Latham and her students did locate, map, and recover additional remains.

Over the next few weeks, all of the skeletal remains collected will be examined by Dr. Latham and Pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr. During this process, they will attempt to identity the victim and glean additional investigative information. Any new information will then be provided to ISP investigators and the Putnam County Coroner’s Office.

At this time, detectives will not speculate on the age, sex, or otherwise. However, ISP detectives are investigating the possibility the discovery may be related to a person from the area reported missing to the ISP Putnamville Post on November 15, 2016. Investigators also believe there is no danger to the public.

The investigation is ongoing and no other information will be released. Law enforcement and coroner personnel continue to request patience as this investigation progresses. When additional details develop, they will be released.
