In Vigo County: Collaborative Police Investigation Leads to Discovery of Narcotics and U.S. Currency

Vigo County - On Friday, April 7, 2023, after a lengthy collaborative investigation involving the Indiana State Police, Terre Haute Police Department, Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, officers were able to collect enough evidence leading to the arrest of five suspects. These suspects were involved in a large-scale methamphetamine and marijuana distribution organization.

Sheriff Plasse is asking for your help in identifying a suspect in an attempted child abduction. Today on April 8th at 3:36pm, at the Terre Haute south Walmart on US Hwy 41 in Terre Haute, a white male described as 5’9”-6’, 150-175, longer dirty blonde hair, wearing red/white ball cap, red pants and blue shirt attempted to abduct a child from a shopping cart. The suspect was reported to be driving a dark colored SUV. UPDATE: Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse reports Michael Wilson, 40, of Terre Haute, has been located and charged with murder and auto theft, in reference to the homicide investigation earlier in the day on Carlisle Street in southern Vigo County. Wilson is in the custody of the Vigo County Jail, after being located in Owen County. This investigation is ongoing. “We would like to thank the community for the various tips we received throughout the day. VCSD investigating morning homicide, asking for help from the public

The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a morning homicide in southern Vigo County. They’re looking for a suspect and are asking for information from the public.

Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse reported that VCSD deputies responded at 9:45 a.m. this morning, Thursday, May 27, to 7755 Carlisle Street in southern Vigo County on a death investigation.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 72-year-old female, Gayle Wilson, deceased in the home. This death is being investigated as a homicide investigation at this time.

“The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help,” said Plasse. “We are looking for a 2017 silver Subaru Outback, plate number 830TKR.”

Plasse said a 40-year-old male named Michael Wilson is also wanted for questioning on this case.

Yesterday, Monday, May 10, Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse announced that the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office missing person Jessica Nascimbene had been located. Jessica’s vehicle was located last Friday evening in Clay County on State Road 59, down a steep ravine and submerged in water. Jessica was located in her vehicle and was found to be deceased. It appears Jessica‘s vehicle left the roadway in an apparent motor vehicle accident prior to Friday evening. The investigation is ongoing. The sheriff offered the thoughts and prayers from VCSD to Jessica‘s friends and family.

The Vigo County Sheriff's Office is asking for your help locating a missing person. Jessica Nascimbene is a 36 year old female with blonde hair and blue eyes, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing approximately 150lbs. She was last seen leaving Walmart South on US Hwy 41 in Terre Haute on April 29. She was seen in a blue Nissan passenger car. She has also been known to drive a black Nissan Pathfinder. Elsewhere: Vigo County UAS becomes operational, available to assist in surrounding counties

The Vigo County EMA and Sheriff's Office announced its Unmanned Aerial Vehicle program became operational on Sunday, April 29. The team consists of personnel from the emergency management agency, sheriff's office, 911, local firefighters, and volunteers with the EMA communications group. The three aircraft are equipped with both high-resolution and thermal imagery cameras. The team is available to assist public safety agencies in Vigo County as well as surrounding counties in Indiana and Illinois in all aspects of public safety functions.
