She was born in Wyandotte, Michigan, on December 17, 1941, to Paul Eugene Chapman, Sr. and Evelyn Mae (Bledsoe) Chapman Baize, after the passing of her father, Paul, she was raised by Donald C. Baize. On December 24, 1961, Mary became the wife of Jackie Glenn Flater.
