Thomas Patrick Gordon, 49, Linton, was arrested by Sergeant Bobby Pierce of the Linton Police Department on Tuesday, August 16.

Sergeant Pierce initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of State Road 54 and 7th Street SW in Linton on a white 1999 Lexus RX3 that did not have working  tail lights after dusk.

Gordon was the driver who had a valid registration and valid driver’s license.

LPD Officer Cayden Walker and Jasonville Police Officer Andrew Duguay assisted on the stop and while Officer Walker ran a record check and wrote out a warning for Gordon, Sergeant Pierce tried to help Gordon locate the source of his tail light malfunction. While all this was occurring, Officer Duguay deployed his canine partner Blitz to sniff the outside of the vehicle and Blitz alerted to the presence of controlled substances on the front driver side of the vehicle. Sergeant Pierce noted Gordon seemed nervous.

When officers searched the vehicle, a clear glass smoking device containing a white residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine was found in the rear hatch of the vehicle.

Gordon was arrested and transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in at 11:42 PM. He was being held without bond pending court appearance.

Gordon is facing charges of:

  • Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and

  • Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

His initial hearing in Greene Superior Court is scheduled for Tuesday, August 23.
