A 45-year-old Bloomfield man found himself behind bars Aug. 20 on preliminary felony domestic battery charges after battering a female victim, breaking her nose.

Rudy Kevin Sepetjian was arrested by James Carpenter, a deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

Carpenter was dispatched to a South Walnut Grove Road residence. Dispatch advised a female, who had been battered, had shown up at the residence. When Carpenter arrived, a female approached him, holding her nose. She had blood on her shirt and bruising under both eyes, according to Carpenter’s probable cause affidavit.

She told Carpenter she and Septejian were arguing and he was looking for the keys to her vehicle to leave. She said she was not going to give him the keys because he had previously crashed one. She told him she was going to call the police. She said Sepetjian then pushed her into a hutch in the dining room, causing her to fall. When she was on the floor, she said, he began punching her in the face. When she was able to get away, she said she ran to the neighbors house.

While EMS was assessing her injuries, Carpenter asked the victim if there had been any previous domestic instances in the past. She said Sepetjian had hit her once about two years ago. She said he gets really aggressive but usually leaves the residence. When asked if there were any known firearms in the home, she told Carpenter she had gotten rid of them in February 2022. Carpenter asked if she had ever been threatened with a firearm to which she replied Septejian’s dad recommended she get rid of the firearms in the home.

Carpenter located Sepetjian walking on South Walnut Grove Road where he was placed under arrest. He opted not to talk to the officer about the incident.

Carpenter returned to the residence to take photographs and observed blood on a hutch in the dining room as well as blood splatter on the floor. On the front steps of the residence, blood splatter was located on the top of the steps and the steps leading to the ground.

The victim declined ambulance transport to the hospital; however, EMS believed her nose to be broken. She transported herself to the hospital and when Deputy Carpenter followed up the following day for photographs she confirmed her nose was broken. Hospital staff were unable to determine if her orbital bones were broken due to swelling.

Septejian has been preliminary charged with domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 Felony.

His bond was set at $10,000 surety with 10% cash allowed.
