Woman’s unusual behavior led to arrest

Last May, the unusual behavior of a woman in a parking lot of a business attracted some attention and a citizen called GCSD. A deputy seized evidence and sent it to the ISP Lab. When the results came back this month, a warrant was issued for the woman’s arrest.

Breanna Nicole Kirkley, 26, Sullivan, was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail yesterday afternoon on a warrant that had been issued for her arrest as a result of an investigation by Deputy Harvey Holt of the Greene County Sheriff's Department.

Around 7:27 AM on May 25, Deputy Holt was dispatched to the Greene County Pallet Factory located on West Harv-Wright Road, Bloomfield. An unidentified employee had called the Sheriff's Department and said Kirkley was on the property and that she was “mental” and possibly under the influence. The caller said Kirkley had something between her legs and she was sitting in a GMC truck.

Deputy Holt located the truck with Kirkley in the driver’s seat in the parking lot of the main building on the property. He reported that while he was talking to Kirkley, she was trying to hide items between her legs. He said she kept pushing them down between her legs while trying to not alert the deputy to what she was doing. He had her step out of the truck for officer safety.

When asked if she had had anything to drink or taken any drugs lately, Kirkley allegedly said she smoked a little crystal just a little while ago and that was why she was shaking.

Deputy Holt reported seeing a small torch in a glass smoking pipe in a black foam case on the front seat of the pickup truck in plain view. He seized the glass pipe and the black case and the pipe was sent to the Indiana State Police Laboratory so the residue could be positively identified.

In mid-August, Deputy Holt received a report back from the ISP lab. Results showed the glass pipe contained methamphetamine.

A criminal case was then filed on August 19 and a warrant issued for the arrest of Kirkley.

She has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
