She was born on April 27, 1936 at home in Mineral City, Greene County, Indiana at the Rockwood Combs place. She was the daughter of C. Gaylord and Mary E. (Merritt) Sparks. She had wonderful memories of growing up in Mineral where she attended school until switching to Scotland, Indiana school. She married Samuel D. George, Sr. on June 6, 1952 in Owensburg, Indiana. Together they raised five children, Beth, Patty, Teri, Sam Jr., and Traci as well as one grandson, Brandon.
